Recommended compression settings for upload
Once you've gotten a video off your camera and onto your computer, what do you do with it? Upload it to Motionbox and share it with all your friends, of course! But how can you make sure it will look (almost) as good online as it does on your desktop?
Your videos will look best if you upload the original source files -- don't compress your video if you don't have to. This is also true for HD video.
If you're using a video editing program and must export your video to a format, use the following guidelines for output settings:
| Video | |
|---|---|
| Resolution | Output the resolution in which you are editing. |
| Bit rate | Because bit-rate is highly dependent on codec there is no recommended or minimum value. Videos should be optimized for resolution, aspect ratio and frame rate rather than bit rate. |
| Frame rate | Maintain the framerate of the original video. |
| Codec | H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 preferred. |
| Audio | |
| Codec | MP3 or AAC preferred |
| Sampling rate | 44.1kHz |
| Channels | 2 (stereo) |
