- Make sure the camera's power is turned on!
- If the computer does not recognize your camera connection, try installing the software off the CD that came with your camera and follow the instructions from there.

- Use the USB cord that came with your camera. the most common cords for digital cameras are USB, and are supplied by the manufacturer.
- Another option is to use a card reader. Take the card out of your camera and put it into the video card reader.

Camcorder

If you shot your movies on a camera that records to a DV tape or a DVD, you'll need a Firewire cable. Often, this cable is included when you buy your camera. (Sometimes it is called IEEE1394.)
Use Windows MovieMaker on a PC (or iMovie on a Mac) to "import" or "capture" your video.
- Find the firewire port on your camera (DV in/out).
- Plug the small end into your camera, and plug the large end into your computer.
- Turn the camera to VCR or VTR mode.
- In iMovie, click the button with the picture of the camera. The video screen will turn blue, and the "import" button should appear. Click it to start capturing video onto your computer.
For Windows Movie Maker, go to File>Capture Video. The Wizard does the rest!
