What’s video optimization? And why can’t you process my video if you say you accept my file’s format?
Once you've uploaded your video to Motionbox, you'll notice how the video goes into a new state of "preparing to optimize." Video optimization is the process of preparing your video for playback. We have to compress each video on Motionbox so that it will play back on many different types of computers with different Internet connections. In other words, we're "optimizing" your video for playback. On the Motionbox site, we'll often use the term "processing" or "encoding" to mean the same thing.
Often times, users will wonder why their video doesn't work on Motionbox when our Help section clearly states that we accept their video format.
Unfortunately, it's not always as straightforward as this, so here's the deal:
Video formats (such as avi, wmv, mov, or mpg) are actually types of containers for different video streams.
In a video container file, the actual video stream could be one of a hundred different codecs, so even though you see your video file named as .avi or .wmv, the way that your computer or Motionbox reads the file is very different. The codec is the important component that encodes this video stream.
It's nearly impossible to be compatible with every camera manufacturer's codec, but we try our best to be compatible with as many as we can! Our engineers are working very hard right now to implement a new encoding engine that will accept even more new codecs. If you're ever not sure if your video isn't processing because of something on your end or ours, just drop us a line.

I'm trying to upload a video onto bebo and everytime i try it comes up with 'this page cannot be displayed'. is there any way i can get my videos up there?

Why has my computer uploaded the video, but then goes into "preparing to optimize" for an interminable period?

Same here - videos just say "preparing to optimise" several hours later for a 700KB file. Something's broken - it should either work, or tell us why it hasn't worked.

I'm so sorry you were having trouble, and for the delayed response here. The week you wrote in, our encoders were down, which is a very unusual occurrence here. There was a notification up on our help page, but it's possible you didn't see it. Our engineers found and fixed the problem, and everything is running smoothly now if you want to try again. What do I do? The link given to me in your email that I need to use to complete my registration with Motionbox keeps receiving an error. How can I register if the link will not work for me? I doubled checked and the long link was typed correctly. Thanks for your help!
