What’s the difference between this high-quality player and the basic player?

The most obvious difference, which you should notice right off the bat, is that the video quality is noticeably better.

You’ll also notice that we’ve added fullscreen mode. Just click on arrow icon in the player to play back your videos in fullscreen.

Finally, HD-quality playback in the new player is available only to Premium members.

How do I get started using the new high-quality player?

You’ll need a couple things:

1) The latest version of Adobe Flash Player. You can get that here: http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer

Be sure to restart your browsers after installing. If you’re experiencing playback difficulties after upgrading, try restarting your computer as well.

2) For optimal playback, you’ll want to upgrade to Motionbox Premium. When you upgrade, your videos will be optimized for high-quality playback.

As a basic member, you’ll get “standard-definition” quality playback in the new player.

My videos don’t look any better in this player. Why not?

Unfortunately we can’t make your videos look better than the originals that came off your camera or recording device. So if you shoot 30 seconds of video on your cell phone, it won’t be HD-quality after you upload to Motionbox.

That said, if you upload some HD footage from the latest HD camcorder, the quality of the playback will knock your socks off.

Can I embed this new player on my Facebook profile or in my blog?

Please stay tuned, because the ability to embed the new high-quality player is currently in development! We’ll add an “embed” button or similar functionality to the player once it’s available!

What connection speed do I need?

This actually depends on the video you’re trying to play. The higher the video’s quality – and the more action there is—the faster your connection needs to be.

With the “HD” format (premium members only!), a good amount of buffering might need to occur for proper playback.

We also offer a low-bandwidth version of your video. If you’re experiencing playback problems with the HD format, you should try this low-bandwidth version. The resulting video quality will be a little lower, but playback should be smoother.

You can switch between the two players via the text link below the player.

Back
What does “low-bandwidth version” mean?

The video quality of this version isn’t quite as good, but if you’re experience choppy or jerky playback with the high-def version (premium members only), downgrading to this one should help.

Back
Why do videos play back in a “jerky” fashion?

A video which contains a lot of movement may play back with jerks or stutters on those most active spots. There are improvements on the horizon for this, but for now you may prefer the low-bandwidth version for videos heavy on motion.

I just see a black screen. What’s wrong?

We’ve heard from several Mac users that they’ve had a problem where the player screen is black or doesn’t load. If either of these problems are happening to you, please visit this link to download or reinstall the latest version of Flash Player:

http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&P2_Platform=MacOSX==

And download the latest version of Flash. You’ll need to restart your browser in order to finish installation. If you’re still having problems, try restarting your computer as well.
