My video says “Sorry, we’re having some problems processing your video!,” what does that mean? How do I fix it?

After you upload a video, you may get this error message. There are many different video types and devices that capture video, which means that there are literally hundreds of video formats out there. Motionbox tries very hard to be compatible with all of those different formats, but sometimes one slips under the radar. The most common reason that you’ll see this error message is because your video type might not be completely compatible with how Motionbox prepares video for playback.

If you receive this message, please contact us and we’ll look into it. In all likelihood, you’ve tried uploading a video whose ‘codec’ we do not currently support. We’re constantly working to include as many codecs as we can, and any information you can give us about the video would be helpful. If you can provide us with the make and model of the device you used to capture the video, that would be extremely helpful.

That said, if your video fails the optimization process, all is not lost! If you have some technical know-how – or a desire to learn – you can convert your video into a format that plays well with Motionbox.

For PC users, we recommend the freeware software VLC – you can download it here. It’s not the most user-friendly software, which is why you’ll want to go here for a guide. You’ll also want to convert your videos to mpeg4 with h.264. Please go “here”: http://wiki.videolan.org/Transcode_WM_to_Mov_or_MP4 for an explanation of how to do this.

If you’re a Mac user, check out rooVid.

Lastly, you should read Eric’s blog post about compressing video for the web.

I’m uploading and it says “Confirming…” for a long time. Why is this?

Sometimes when you upload a video to Motionbox it may “hang” in the “confirming” state for a very long time in the uploading window. Try canceling and re-uploading the video again. If that doesn’t seem to work, try using the classic single file uploader . If this doesn’t seem to work either, please contact us and we’ll be more than happy to assist you.
