Description:
http://www.EmploymentCrossing.com Cessna Aircraft plans to cut 500 jobs in its hometown of Wichita, Kansas. Employees were informed this week via email. The cuts are in response to a drop in production. Affected employees likely will receive their required 60- day notice within a couple weeks, the company announced, at which point the work force reduction will begin. The company employs a total of 15,000 people. In addition, 165 Cessna workers in Bend, Oregon will be let go. Cessna is offering a voluntary- buyout option in both Wichita and Bend, in hopes of reducing the number of forced layoffs. The 92- year manufacturer of general aviation aircraft also announced that its December holiday shutdown will begin ten days early, on the 22nd.
